You have eight days from the time you land in Belgium to register with the local administration office and obtain a residency card. For the duration of your course, you may stay in Belgium with the help of this card. Until the end of your course, you can renew your residence permit every year.

A Belgian student visa is typically granted for a period of one to two years. Nevertheless, it is based on your course of study. If your study programme lasts longer than the length of your visa, you can renew it.
